Official Battle Result

Clash Summary

SKAMZ & SEVZ vs KANDI & DEENO took place at PenGame Rap Battle 2024 in the 2-on-2 format. The judges are Axel the Comedian, Loons, and Big Zuu. KANDI & DEENO go first. KANDI & DEENO open round one with a high-energy, chaotic round. They attack SKAMZ and SEVZ through militant talk, mothers, dirty gums, hair, looks, height, and repeated boy/kid imagery. There is good energy and some direct disrespect, but the round is loose and less controlled than their opponents’ response. SKAMZ & SEVZ respond with a clearer and more structured first. They attack KANDI’s OnlyFans angle, feet pictures, sexuality, being “sweet” but not dangerous, DEENO’s credibility, spice, Frankenstein image, GTA, Pinky and the Brain, sideman status and weirdness. The round is sharper, cleaner and easier to catch live. Axel later says round one definitely goes to SKAMZ & SEVZ. Round two is where the battle becomes darker. KANDI & DEENO bring abortion, family, mother, puberty, malaria, backshots, kids, gums, body/appearance and race-based material. They have some strong shock value and energy, but the concepts start becoming more uncomfortable than effective. SKAMZ & SEVZ’s second is much clearer. They attack KANDI’s losing streak, DEENO going to his grandma’s yard with food, not handling GRAMS, gingerbread man, Bigfoot, Mickey Mouse boots, Goofy trim, Jamaican/Asian identity, Orion, “KANDI is for kids,” sex-work-style flips, Anakin/dark side and Disney Channel. The back-to-back structure is better and the room catches more of it. Round three is the decisive collapse for KANDI & DEENO. They chant about SKAMZ’s dad being dead and SEVZ’s mum being dead, then continue with ash, parenting, mental-health, smell, KFC, Chris Brown and fatherhood material. The judges later make it clear that this is the point where KANDI & DEENO lose them. It is harsh battle material, but as a repeated chant it becomes too much and damages the performance. SKAMZ & SEVZ’s third is shorter but more controlled. They attack KANDI and DEENO through wanting to be Black, OnlyFans, leg/feet angles, Prin Lee, black eye, nan cremation, Red Bull, Deadpool, Hashirama and a “meanie / greedy” closer. It is not their strongest round, but it keeps the battle under control and avoids the same level of overreach. The official decision is SKAMZ & SEVZ win by unanimous judges’ decision. All three judges give the battle to SKAMZ & SEVZ. The judges say KANDI & DEENO had bars, but the concepts did not match each round and the dead-parent chant went too far.

Performance Analysis

SKAMZ & SEVZ

SKAMZ & SEVZ win because they are clearer, more structured and better suited to the 2-on-2 format. Their back-to-backs are cleaner, especially in the first two rounds. Their first round is the best round of the battle. The OnlyFans/OnlyMen angle, pigtails, feet pictures, Mariah Carey flip, Hunger Games, Pinky and the Brain, Frankenstein, GTA and sideman material all land clearly. It is direct, funny and easy for the room to follow. Their second round is also strong. They use KANDI’s losing streak, DEENO’s grandma/lunch angle, GRAMS comparison, gingerbread man, Bigfoot, Mickey Mouse boots, Goofy trim, Jamaican/Asian identity and Disney Channel material. The writing is not overly complex, but it is effective live. Their third is shorter and lighter than the first two, but by then they have already built a lead. It works because it stays more controlled than KANDI & DEENO’s third and avoids derailing the battle. Their biggest strength is clarity. In a 2-on-2, timing matters, and SKAMZ & SEVZ look more prepared as a pairing.

Lyrical Themes: OnlyFans/OnlyMen, pigtails, feet pictures, Mariah Carey, Hunger Games, Pinky and the Brain, Frankenstein, GTA, KANDI losing streak, grandma packed lunch, gingerbread man, Bigfoot, Mickey Mouse boots, Goofy trim, Jamaican/Asian identity, Anakin, Disney Channel, Deadpool, Hashirama.

KANDI & DEENO

KANDI & DEENO have energy and some heavy disrespect, but their material becomes too uncontrolled. The judges specifically say the dead-parent concept loses them the battle. Their first round has presence. They attack SKAMZ and SEVZ through mothers, militant talk, dirty gums, trims, and boy/kid imagery. It has energy but lacks the structure of SKAMZ & SEVZ’s first. Their second round is darker and more aggressive. They use abortion, mother, puberty, malaria, weight, backshots, kids and race material. Some parts land, but the concepts are scattered and heavy without enough control. Their third round is the main issue. Repeating the dead-parent chant makes the round feel more uncomfortable than skillful. In battle rap, dark material can work, but the judges feel the way it was used here went too far and became the reason they lost. Their biggest strength is fearless disrespect. Their weakness is control. The material becomes too blunt and too repetitive instead of sharp.

Lyrical Themes: Militant talk, mothers, dirty gums, trims, abortions, puberty, malaria, backshots, kids, race, dead-parent chant, ash, parenting, mental-health, smell, KFC, Chris Brown.
